Scott and I just hosted a Murder Mystery Party, which I find to be fun. It was kind of a neighborhood party, as we had both next door neighbors and another that lives 4 houses down as our guests. I think everyone had a good time :)
Unfortunately, there was one player who had two missing clues out of four (the box had duplicates for one player and she got his clues instead). I was disappointed about that, but since I bought it off of e-bay and it turned out to be a really old game, there really isn't a way to get those clues. Oh well, it worked out fine and it turned out Scott was the murderer! Only one person guessed him and it was because he got so defensive when being accused at one point that she got suspicious :) Later I read the different character clues and found out that one person didn't really reveal something they were supposed to, which helped disguise Scott as being the murderer and made an important clue seem unimportant. At least one person guessed him correctly as the murderer!
Well, I am no longer doing childcare and it seems to have been a perfect time to stop (at the end of Sept). I am now busy getting things ready for this new baby who is due to arrive in
2 short weeks!! I hadn't done a whole lot of preparations, so I'm now in the mode...getting the guest room/nursery ready, sorting through Blake's old baby clothes and separating out gender neutral clothes (which is proving to be difficult since we knew Blake was a boy, so there really isn't all that much), switching out Blake's summer and winter clothes, researching a new car seat for Blake, continuing to research baby names, taking long naps due to my semi-sleepless nights, and the usual cooking, cleaning, excursions for Blake, etc.
Here is Blake helping me get the baby's room ready:

Blake chillin' in his old bouncy seat. He actually loves this thing now--he always turns on the music and sits, bounces, and listens to the music. I'm surprised it has held up so well. His left foot is moving the chair up and down...I get a little worried when I see him enjoying bouncing since I don't really want him to end up with an exercise bouncy ball addiction...:) |

Deciding the hair dryer isn't really that scary and trying to turn it on. I never really blow dry my hair anymore, so this was a new device for him. |
As you can see, we get a lot done together :)
My friend here in Madison just invited me to a semi-annual consignment sale here in Madison where anyone can bring their baby goods and consign them and they hold this big three-day sale (well, technically four-day sale b/c they have a pre-sale for certain people before they open it up to the public). Well, she signed up as a new Mom and got in at the end of the first day of the pre-sale. I couldn't believe how fast some things were going, so it would have been fun to get there right away in the morning but the new Mom's had the 4-6pm time slot! I bought Blake's birthday present (which I got a great deal on), his Halloween costume (another great deal and so cute), some crocs for next year, and some clothes. Not many clothes, but did get a few for Blake and three little girl outfits/jammies just in case. These were the first girls clothes I've bought! I think I'm going to go back on Sunday b/c most things are half off then and check out if I can get a few more things. These are consignment, so they are a little more expensive than a garage sale, so it will be interesting to see what is left on Sunday and if it is worth our time...I'm not about to spend a lot on girl's clothes since we don't know yet if we are having a boy or a girl!
Scott came home a little early and looked after Blake for the evening while Lori and I checked out the sale and then we went out for dinner afterwards. It sure is nice to get those evenings off where I don't have to run after Blake!! Actually, he wasn't allowed during the pre-sale, which was great b/c I would have brought him and it would have been an evening of me running after him, or trying to hold him. He is just too curious I guess. During our murder mystery party, our next door neighbor/landlord in the duplex commented on how independent Blake compared to his son who was the opposite. His son always wanted to be near his Dad and Blake could care less whether he is next to me. Thus, he is always running around the neighborhood with me following, rather than the much more desirable scenario where I am lounging on our patio chairs while Blake plays quietly by me...:)
