Scott:
Scott was just diagnosed with Essential Thrombocythaemia (ET) and to be honest, we were thrilled with this diagnosis. The doctor discovered that he had abnormally high platelets and they have been testing his blood (and ultimately his bone marrow) to determine why. After his blood test came back negative for everything but high platelets, they decided they needed to take bone marrow for an answer. We just found out today that is it ET, and since the alternative were much worse, we were thankful for this diagnosis. They are still waiting on one more test and if that comes back negative, the only change to his daily life will be to add a baby aspirin a day and annual blood check-ups. He is at a little higher risk for other things with this disease, so we'll be sure to watch him closely.
Scott is now battling a nasty cold--well, cold symptoms, but seems to be more than that as he is just feeling quite crappy.
Betty:
I spilled boiling tea water on my foot, which had a sock on it. The sock helped to keep the water close to my skin for just a little bit longer, scalding the first layer of skin right off and giving me a second degree burn. Man. That. Hurt. I wasn't sure how I was going to sleep that night, but thankfully, I did. It took a week and a day for it to slightly scab over so it was no longer an open wound, and two weeks for it to look like crisp Thanksgiving day turkey skin. It is doing great now, but I'm hoping for minimal scarring :)
Blake:
Blake had a bad cold with a cough that kept him for sleeping well. He was whiny and uncomfortable. Thankfully, he is feeling better now, although he just fell out of his crib for the first time today. I guess it is time to take out the toddler bed!! Good-bye confinement (frown face for Mommy & Daddy). :)
Sadie:
Sadie was the first victim to Blake's cold (Scott was the second) and got it through the toddler's willingness to share everything but his toys and sweets :)
Sadie had not been sleeping as well either since she was coughing, congested, and miserable. Thus, not much sleep for Mommy as she was getting up frequently. Sadie is now feeling much better, but decided she liked the company in the night, and has adjusted her schedule to spend more time with her Mommy. We are working on breaking that!
Sadie is also going to be having some appointments regarding the hemangioma on her eyelid. We will meet with her pediatric doctor to discuss an oral medication and the side-effects and we'll meet with a surgeon to discuss the pros and cons of surgery. We are still hoping the topical medication will start working, but it was a long shot, according to the doctor. Her's is a little too deep. Also, Sadie got a hair wrapped extremely tightly around her pinkie toe that we had to go to urgent care to get it removed. See the story in my update to this post at "Part II"
And for the good times...:)
Sadie and I went for a day to visit some of my college roommates in Rochester, MN. Both my roommates, Karin & Jenny, had girls. Karin has 2 and Jenny has 3. Since I only had my girl with me, we had to get a girls photo. :) Love spending time with these friends!!

Glad to hear you got an answer for Scott!! Prayers for his next test results! This winter has been rough for us for sicknesses for us as well!! Colds, positive influenza in both girls (of course not at the same time), ear infections...it's been brutal! And now Olivya is breaking 4 top teeth all at the same time (very similar symptoms to being sick). Ugh! It's gotta end soon!! Hang in there...hopefully everyone will be healthy before we know it:)
Wow, yeah, you have had it bad! Our kids haven't had much, but they just happened to get sick while we were waiting on Scott's results, so it seemed like a lot. Hope your kids are better soon (and over the teething!!)
