Fireplace hearth accident

Ok, where to start? It seems a lot has been going on in our family the last few days! Well, fun bloggable stuff anyways (First off, did you know that Dr. Seuss references a Blogg as one of his weird animals? I wonder if that is where a "blog" got its name...) Ok, so I think I'll put in a couple different posts, since I don't like my posts to be too long :)

So, Blake has his first war wound with the fireplace hearth. We felt really bad about this because he hit his forehead pretty hard--there was a lot of blood and we felt so bad for our baby. Thankfully, it was in the evening, so he could go to bed not too long afterwards and forget about the bandages on his head, which he constantly wanted to touch/pull off. We needed them on there b/c he was still bleeding though! Thankfully, he didn't need stitches (according to our medical diagnosis :) )

I felt like I was following him around the whole night making sure he didn't trip or bang a toy on his forehead or do anything to inflict more pain. At one point, I got out my camera and in just a couple short minutes, this is what I caught on film.

Blake walking with sippy cup tilted while walking, not being able to see where he is going...

Climbing up on a kitchen chair....

Trying to gain access to the basement so he can "fall down" the basement stairs (ok, he's actually really good with stairs, but I don't ever let him on the basement stairs b/c it is concrete below and they are wooden with slots on the backs)

Trying to pull down a double size box of Quaker Oat Squares

Succeeding...

Splat! Good thing they didn't hit his head!
And...finally, feeling a little worn out and trying to play with his police car while lying on the floor.
After Blake was sleeping for the night, I sat down at the computer and glanced at the file cabinet. I saw something that warmed my heart and made me smile:

Sometimes the cute little reminders of your child while he is sleeping peacefully just makes your day :)

Oh, and why is it that when your child is sleeping peacefully you have these little instances of cute reminders? Because some of the other reminders when he is awake aren't quite as cute...

Like when your kitchen looks like this while you are trying to make dinner... :)
