Cabin

This blog wouldn't be complete without our semi-annual trip to the cabin recap. It was definitely a different experience with two children there, but we still had a great time, as always. It is nice that our friends still invite us even though we have a baby that cries :) Addie was the other baby and pretty soon her and Blake will be able to play together!

Scott went snowmobiling a couple times, but I decided to stay in and watch Blake. I did play some broomball, which is always a good time. Scott loved the broomball games and kept saying that he couldn't believe we hadn't played in the past. I always regret the limited number of pictures I take, but here's a few from the weekend.

Mommy & Blakey

Well, I hope you enjoyed this post because while I was typing this, my cauliflower and broccoli were burning on the stove. I do this more than I would like to admit and it usually involves me being on the computer...As I was typing, I started hearing some popping and all of a sudden remembered my veggies. They were steaming--the pot was quite dry & black and the veggies were burnt in the upper section. Yikes! Now it smells in here...

3 Months old and Mommy's back to work

Today was my first day back on the job and although I choked up leaving my little baby (who was 3 months old yesterday!), I couldn't be happier with how the day went. Our nanny seems to be doing a fantastic job and it makes it so much easier to be away knowing that he is well cared for!

Blake was sleeping soundly when I got home and I found the nanny did everything I asked, including documenting his diapers, feedings, and naps. She even added how many books she read to him b/c she knew that was important to me as well. She washed the cloth diapers and put away some dishes that were in the sink. God has really answered our prayers in providing a nanny we feel we can trust. She is a devout Christian and very conservative, which makes me feel very comfortable with her and her character.

It has been very warm the past couple days and so Blake and I went on a walk! It was the first using the stroller and he enjoyed it for a while. Didn't last all that long, but Mommy also bundled him up more than was probably necessary :)

Also, I love looking at the pictures that document his age in months. I love the little tummy in his 3 month picture :) I've been dressing him in the same onsie each time to better tell how much he's grown since the last picture. The last is of him standing on his own ever so briefly while leaning against the chair.

Reading Dr. Seuss

Here are a couple fairly lengthy videos of Blake reading his new Dr. Seuss books. They are longer because I was trying to catch all his cooing and since he doesn't coo on demand, I just kept recording. He was in such a good mood and enjoying his books, so it was fun to watch him. Notice that I'm doing the video with one hand, while turning pages with another. At times, when I stop to turn the page, he gets quiet, but starts again once I start reading. I love the beginning of the Cat in the Hat b/c he is chomping on his bib, haha.

Go Dogs Go

We just got back from the video store to rent a movie to bring with us to WI, where we will be snowmobiling with friends. We do this once a year and always have a blast. While looking at movies, we found they had a sale for previously viewed movies, so I bought "Life as We Know It." I think it is a really cute movie, but then again, I am a sucker for chick flicks. I'm thinking it is because I never got to watch them growing up, since I was always outnumbered.

It does bring me back to the time Mom said I alone got to pick out the movie we were to watch one night (I think she felt sorry I always had to watch guy movies). So, I was kind of excited, but wouldn't you know it, David convinced me that it would be much better if I let him come in to help me out. So, I decided to let him--it couldn't hurt, right? Well, turns out we got another guy movie! He was always good at getting his way...:)

Speaking of which, we have some video from Christmas and after watching it, I realized that the majority of our footage was of David...I'll have to start monitoring his camera time in the future :) (Love you David!)

Blake's first day away from Mommy

Yesterday I had a training for work, so Blake went to our neighbors' house. He was at the Young's for the morning and the Whitsitt's for the afternoon. He did great for both neighbors. The Young's 3 year old, Parker, said he missed Blake terribly when he left and at the Whitsitts, he played contentedly beneath their mobile for an hour! We are definitely blessed to have such wonderful neighbors, especially with family being so far away! Here are a couple pictures of his day with the Whitsitts.

Next week I go back to work for 3 days a week. Hopefully it stays that way and they won't expect me to work Saturdays, since it will be just the start of tax season when I go back. I definitely wasn't about to go back to work full time during tax season because I'd never see my baby.

Our nanny has a 5 month old, so when they get a little older, they'll be able to play together. She is a very conservative Christian, so I feel comfortable having her watch Blake and be in our home. It was just too hard for us to do the daycare thing and we feel comfortable with this situation. She doesn't watch TV, so I'm not worried about her sitting Blake in front of the TV either. :)

First Blog

This is my first post to a blog. Big step for me :)
I have our new nanny coming in an hour to show her around. Since I still need to pump and get dressed, I really shouldn't be wasting my time blogging! So, this will be short, but just wanted to see how this all worked. More to come later...oh, and what would a first entry be without a picture of my adorable baby :)
